Zirconium Crucibles are a superior material choice for fusions employing sodium peroxide andcan also be used as a low-cost replacement for platinum in fusions employing sodium carbonate or lithium salts. Zirconium is shows complete resistance to nitric, hydrochloric, sulfuric an perchloric acids and sample contamination is virtually eliminated.


MTI offers a wide variety of zirconium crucibles in its straight wall and low-form designs. Additionally, it has developed several custom designs for fusion applications. Fusion is a technique used to prepare inorganic samples for analysis by x-ray fluorescence (XRF), inductively coupled plasma (ICP), atomic absorption (AA) or by traditional wet chemistry method. Target matter for fusion analysis include: cement, ore, slag, sediment, soil, rock, ceramic, pigment, glass and even metal.


MTI routinely collaborates with customers to develop custom designed crucibles. For new designs, fabrication of tooling may be required, a process that takes place in-house and is maintained as proprietary, for the customer.
